Lotus Pharmaceutical (美時) saw strong demand for its cancer drugs outside the U.S., leading to consolidated revenue of NT$1.33 billion in August, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 11.86%, though a 51.31% decrease from the previous month. Cumulative revenue for the first eight months of the year reached NT$12.99 billion, marking a 4.42% year-on-year increase.
According to Lotus, export sales in August increased by 14% year-on-year, largely driven by robust demand for oncology drugs in markets outside the U.S. The company also experienced approximately 10% growth in the Asian market, with revenue from Thailand soaring by over 180% compared to the same period last year. This growth was mainly attributed to the acquisition of Teva Pharmaceutical’s Thailand subsidiary.
Lotus has been actively expanding its presence in ASEAN markets. On September 5, the company announced its $50 million (approximately NT$1.6 billion) acquisition of Sanofi’s leading anti-inflammatory drug Alpha ChoayR in Vietnam and Cambodia. Alpha ChoayR generated more than $22 million in sales in these regions in 2023.
Lotus expects to recognize revenue from Alpha ChoayR in the first half of 2025, contingent upon the approval of antitrust clearance by the Vietnam Competition Commission.
Additionally, in July, Lotus completed its acquisition of Teva’s Thailand subsidiary, and revenue contributions from this acquisition began in August. The deal is expected to expand Lotus’s sales channels to retail pharmacies. Following the merger, Thailand's revenue from ophthalmic and respiratory products is anticipated to triple, reaching between $20 million and $25 million.
