Carilex Medical announced yesterday that it has made significant progress in its European expansion efforts. The company’s independently developed Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) devices and dressing kits, which were already established in markets such as Greece, Italy, Austria, and Germany, have now successfully entered the UK and Lithuanian markets. These products are also being sold in the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Taiwan, and several other countries.
Previously, Carilex’s European market operations were primarily managed by its UK subsidiary, with revenue largely coming from medical-grade pressure relief mattress products. To further optimize its operations in Europe, Carilex established a European subsidiary in Germany at the end of 2022. This subsidiary serves as the central hub for expanding into the continental European market, focusing on enhancing local logistics, warehousing, business marketing, distribution channels, and product technical services.
Sales data indicate that Carilex's NPWT devices are gradually gaining traction in Europe, with their market share increasing from less than 3% in 2022 to approximately 10% in the first half of 2024. Recently, Carilex has formed partnerships with major medical brands and distributors in the UK and Lithuania. The UK, considered the birthplace and main battleground for NPWT devices, is dominated by European and American brands.
Despite being a Taiwanese brand, Carilex has successfully collaborated with major local medical brands, a significant achievement in such a competitive market. The company has already initiated clinical applications, receiving positive feedback on the efficacy of its products. Carilex aims to gradually expand sales, with the goal of entering the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) procurement system. In Lithuania, the company has recently secured a partnership, with initial small-scale shipments already delivered, and is actively pursuing opportunities to expand into more hospitals and clinics.
Carilex’s NPWT devices and dressing products have already received Class II medical certifications in the European Union, the UK, Brazil, New Zealand, and Australia. The company has also obtained approval from Taiwan’s TFDA and secured reimbursement under the national health insurance system, as well as received FDA 510(k) clearance in the United States. These achievements have enabled Carilex to successfully enter various public health hospitals, regional hospitals, and care facilities across Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe, as well as in Brazil, Argentina, and Taiwan.
Looking ahead, Carilex plans to continue advancing the market penetration of its NPWT devices, deepening its European presence while actively exploring opportunities in Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and ASEAN countries such as Malaysia and India. The company aims to further expand its global market footprint.
