Yesterday (21st), Bora Pharmaceuticals announced the successful acquisition of an aseptic injectable manufacturing plant located in Camden, Maryland, from the U.S. company Emergent BioSolutions. The company has officially integrated the site's revenue and operations, enhancing the comprehensiveness of its CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) capabilities.
Bora Pharmaceuticals noted that it already had the capability to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for biotech drugs in aseptic injectable form. This acquisition further extends its capabilities to the manufacturing of finished aseptic injectable drug products, thereby boosting the competitiveness of Bora's biologics contract manufacturing services. The expanded production capacity will allow Bora to support clients in both drug development and the commercial-scale production of biotech products.
The acquired Camden site spans approximately 87,000 square meters and houses four aseptic injectable production lines. These lines are equipped to support various manufacturing processes and CDMO services, including freeze-drying, vial filling, and pre-filled syringe filling for both experimental trial batches and large-scale commercial production.
Bora's Chairman, Bobby Sheng, stated that following the successful transfer of U.S. pharmaceutical company USL in April, the acquisition of the Camden site further strengthens Bora's operational capabilities in North America. This acquisition significantly expands the range of products and technical services Bora can offer its biologics clients.
