Grape King Bio announced yesterday its official expansion into Thailand, with Chairman Andrew Tseng attending the "2024 Taiwan-Thailand Industry Linkage Summit." During the event, Grape King Bio signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thailand's National Food Institute (NFI), marking the beginning of a collaborative effort focused on R&D technology, experimental resources, talent cultivation, and academic exchanges to promote the biotech industries of both Taiwan and Thailand.
Recognizing Thailand's rapid emergence as a new industrialized nation in Asia, Grape King Bio is capitalizing on the strong post-pandemic recovery of the biotech sector and the significant potential of the health market. By establishing a presence in Thailand, Grape King Bio aims to enhance their R&D capabilities through technological exchanges and maximize the value of limited R&D resources via shared laboratory resources.
Andrew Tseng emphasized that Grape King Bio boasts a robust R&D capability, supported by a team of 164 researchers, including 16 PhDs, 21 nutritionists, and 13 food technologists. Through this collaboration, Grape King Bio aims to strengthen future industry connections, talent training, and academic exchanges, ultimately fostering a vibrant ecosystem and expanding market opportunities.
In 2019, Grape King Bio invested NT$1.6 billion to establish the "Grape King Biotechnology Research Institute," which features a fermentation capacity of 506 tons. Over the next three years, the company is constructing a new facility, the "Grape King Health Outlook Park," which will add an additional 240-280 tons of capacity. From material development and functional validation to process improvement, Grape King Bio has successfully established itself as a leader in biotech health technologies, securing 210 patents in the process.
