Heading to the US Market! Foxconn Technology's Sotera Wireless Develops Vital Signs Monitoring SystemJul 12, 2024

Foxconn Technology announced yesterday that its invested company, Sotera Wireless Inc., has deployed the ViSi Mobile vital signs monitoring system at a medical center in Florida, USA. This innovative wearable wireless monitoring solution successfully completed clinical trials, addressing the issue of nursing staff shortages.

Sotera Wireless, headquartered in California, is a digital health startup specializing in developing vital signs monitoring systems. Their primary innovation is a continuous monitoring system designed for use outside intensive care units (ICUs). This system helps identify early signs of patient deterioration and facilitates rapid response, aiding trained nursing staff in recognizing early symptoms of worsening conditions.

Patients with pulmonary hypertension require regular nighttime blood pressure monitoring. Although pulmonary hypertension is incurable, its severe symptoms—including shortness of breath, fainting, fatigue, chest pain, leg swelling, and rapid heartbeat—may necessitate further treatment. The ViSi Mobile vital signs monitoring system continuously monitors blood pressure, allowing nursing staff to respond early and enabling physicians to quickly adjust medications.

In one instance, a patient with a hip fracture monitored by the ViSi Mobile system experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure, triggering an alarm. In a busy ward without continuous monitoring, such information might go unnoticed, causing the patient unnecessary suffering. Continuous monitoring ensures that the medical team receives alerts promptly, allowing them to respond quickly and transfer the patient to a higher level of care if needed.

To improve patient care outcomes and efficiently utilize scarce nursing and physician resources, the ViSi Mobile vital signs monitoring system is employed in general wards and long-term care facilities. This system makes it easier for nursing staff to monitor patients and take timely action, checking heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen saturation. It also alerts caregivers to potential health issues, such as falls or acute changes in vital signs.
