Anbogen Secures Series A+ Funding to Propel ABT-301 Phase II Clinical TrialsJul 02, 2024

On July 1, Anbogen Therapeutics, Inc. announced the successful completion of its Series A+ funding round, securing 220 million NTD. This funding will support the Phase II clinical trial of ABT-301 in combination with a PD-1 inhibitor (immune checkpoint inhibitor) for the treatment of microsatellite stable (MSS) metastatic colorectal cancer, which accounts for approximately 95% of metastatic colorectal cancer cases.

Anbogen stated that this Series A+ funding follows the 380 million NTD raised in its Series A funding completed on February 1 of this year, bringing the total to 600 million NTD across both rounds.

The Series A+ funding was led by KGI Venture Capital and saw active participation from both existing and new investors.

CEO Tsu-An Hsu highlighted that repeated preclinical studies have shown that the combination of ABT-301 and immune checkpoint inhibitors demonstrated significant synergistic therapeutic effects in various solid tumor models, including colorectal cancer, liver cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, and head and neck cancer.

Given the promising clinical results, Anbogen decided to proceed with the Series A+ funding to ensure the necessary capital for the ABT-301 clinical trial without affecting the progress of ABT-101's Phase II development.

Tsu-An Hsu also noted that Anbogen has provided the preclinical data and Phase II trial design for ABT-301 to several companies that own immune checkpoint inhibitors. A major pharmaceutical company has already agreed to provide PD-1 drugs for Anbogen’s clinical trials at a symbolic cost. This collaboration not only allows Anbogen to allocate resources more efficiently but also signifies strong recognition of ABT-301 and Anbogen Therapeutics.
