TTY Biopharm expands into Vietnam, signs MOUs with 4 hospitals; Cancer and antibiotic sectors maintain 5-10% growthJun 27, 2024

TTY Biopharm held an investor conference yesterday. General Manager Ching-Lan Hou stated that this year, the company will continue to focus on two major areas: cancer treatment and antibiotics. These sectors are expected to maintain stable growth of 5-10%. The company is also actively expanding into the Vietnamese market, having already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with four hospitals, leading TTY Biopharm towards further internationalization.

Ching-Lan Hou noted that Lipo-AB continues to ship, with overseas contributions showing double-digit growth. Milestone payments from Europe are expected to come in this year, with a European market launch estimated within the next 1-2 years. Regarding Southeast Asia, the Thai subsidiary and Vietnamese office are performing well in their trial operations. Overseas revenue is expected to continue rising, aligning with Tung Yang's goal of internationalization.

Hou pointed out that cancer drugs currently account for half of TTY's business, representing a crucial core strategy. In April this year, the company formed a strategic alliance with Roche, licensing in Avastin for colorectal cancer treatment. This year, the focus will remain on cancer and antibiotics, with stable growth of 5-10% expected.

Regarding the company's three-pronged operational strategy, Hou explained: The first prong involves difficult-to-manufacture generic drugs for export, such as Lipo-AB, which will share profits in the U.S. market and generate milestone payments in Europe. Another anticancer drug, liposomal Lipo-Dox, received certification in Pakistan in January. As for domestically produced new drugs, Polymyxin-B was certified in February and is currently undergoing the national health insurance coverage process, potentially being included by year-end.

The third prong involves licensing in international new drugs. Hou stated that Tung Yang aims to continue licensing innovative international drugs, such as Pemazyre, the first targeted therapy for cholangiocarcinoma, introduced last year. After being included in health insurance coverage, it has benefited many cholangiocarcinoma patients. Additionally, TS-1 for gastric and breast cancer has expanded its indications to include cholangiocarcinoma and was included in health insurance coverage in February this year.

Regarding the New Southbound Policy, Hou noted that MOUs have been signed with four hospitals in Vietnam. As Vietnam is a developing country and Taiwan has a more mature pharmaceutical market, they hope to foster more cooperation in hospital management, quality management, and drug use, leading TTY Biopharm towards further internationalization.
