Aiming at opportunities in regenerative medicine, Steminent Biotechnology has announced further collaboration with Japan's Shibuya Corporation on June 26th. This partnership follows Steminent's introduction of Shibuya's cell therapy Isolator equipment, which is expected to begin production after trial manufacturing completes by the end of this year. The new collaboration focuses on developing automated cell culture equipment and novel cell therapy technology platforms.
Chairperson Ling-Mei Wang stated that in response to the implementation of regenerative medicine laws and future product demand, Steminent began planning last year to purchase Shibuya's next-generation Isolator equipment that meets current and future GMP requirements for cell therapy products. The complete set of equipment arrived at Steminent's cell therapy plant in mid-June, with trial production expected to be completed this year and formal production lines to be operational next year.
Wang emphasized that technology introduction and innovation will not only enhance production capacity but also strengthen product competitiveness. Steminent has long focused on cell therapy and regenerative medicine markets, planning comprehensive product lines and technical solutions to improve treatment efficacy and patient experience while expanding market share. The addition of Shibuya's cutting-edge automated equipment, technology, advanced cell culture platforms, and automated production lines is expected to significantly increase production efficiency and product quality while effectively reducing risks associated with manual operations.
To establish a foundation for cooperation, Steminent and Shibuya signed their first strategic cooperation memorandum in November last year. They plan to sign a more substantial agreement on cooperation content in the near future, initiating the next phase of their strategy. This aims to fully integrate the experiences of both Taiwan and Japan in the field of cell therapy, jointly expanding technological scope and global market reach.
Vice President Ching-Huai Ke stated that cell therapy is a rapidly growing market with immense potential. The collaboration with Shibuya will help Steminent move towards internationalization and achieve breakthrough progress in cell therapy and regenerative medicine fields.
