Following the transfer of lipid-lowering drug rights to Synmosa over two years ago, Anxo announced on the 20th that it will further transfer the drug licenses for two marketed epilepsy oral medications and the development technology for a new drug to Synmosa. This alliance aims to enrich Synmosa's product line and expand its market penetration, while Anxo will receive signing and milestone payments.
The products being transferred by Anxo primarily focus on central nervous system medications. The two transferred licenses are for an oral medication and an oral liquid formulation for the treatment of epilepsy. The technology transfer involves the development of a new generation of anti-epileptic drugs.
Anxo's General Manager, Lin-Chuan Yen, highlighted that compared to traditional anti-epileptic drugs, the new generation products feature lower side effects and reduced drug-drug interactions, offering higher safety. Currently, the domestic market only includes the original patented drug and an imported generic drug. Ying Suo, in collaBoration with Synmosa, aims to complete the development and launch of this new drug within one to two years, potentially becoming the first domestically produced generic drug of its kind.
In October 2021, Anxo signed a strategic cooperation letter of intent with Synmosa, focusing on long-term collaBoration in multiple therapeutic areas including hyperlipidemia, urology, and nephrology. The first product under this agreement was the lipid-lowering drug "Ezitimibe 10/20 mg tablets," with Synmosa acquiring the drug license and sales rights. This drug license was the first domestic generic drug with the same compound dosage as the original patented drug, with Anxo being the sole supplier.
Lin-Chuan Yen stated that deepening cooperation with Synmosa not only expands product marketing capabilities and penetration but also demonstrates Ying Suo's precise topic selection and technological development strength, alongside Synmosa's comprehensive marketing channels and rich market experience. This partnership exemplifies a mutually beneficial alliance within the domestic pharmaceutical industry, creating a win-win scenario and adding a new chapter to their success.
