NVIDIA, the global leader in AI technology, announced yesterday that Taiwan's premier medical centers, the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, have adopted NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology. This collaboration aims to propel advancements in biomedical research and patient healthcare.
These centers are integrating accelerated computing and generative AI technologies to enhance various aspects of patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and advance drug discovery research.
Director of the NHRI Institute of Population Health Sciences, Hong-Yi Chiu, stated, “Applying AI in healthcare will fundamentally change how we prevent and treat diseases. With AI’s ability to quickly and accurately analyze vast amounts of data, we can develop personalized medical strategies and early intervention methods that were previously unattainable.
Chang Gung Memorial Hospital physician, Wen-Jun Cheng, emphasized the promising future of AI in healthcare. He explained that with AI assistance, diagnostic accuracy will improve, treatment plans will yield better predictive outcomes, and patients will recover more swiftly. In complex analytical processes, AI enables more efficient and cost-effective decision-making in healthcare.
The NHRI is a leading medical research institution in Taiwan, playing a crucial role in promoting public health through biomedical research and innovation. Integrating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology into its IT infrastructure marks a significant leap in AI-driven healthcare.
The collaboration between NHRI and NVIDIA also extends to developing large language models tailored to Taiwan's healthcare needs. Deputy Director of NHRI’s Institute of Population Health Sciences, Feng-Qi Chen, stated, “Medical records and genomic data in traditional Chinese present unique challenges that require localized solutions.
Chen elaborated on the complexities, including language variations and the need for precise interpretation of the unique genomes of Taiwan’s population. “NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology enables us to develop these solutions, ensuring our healthcare system remains at the forefront of medical research.
