Compal is dedicated to advancing the latest AI technologies in the medical and health promotion fields, focusing particularly on the often-overlooked areas of mental health and psychiatric care. Compal's subsidiary, Macrocare, has developed several EEG-assisted diagnostic products, including the "YouKey EEG Stress Assessment System," the "Eight-Channel EEG Device," and the "Cognitive Decline Risk Assessment System."
The "YouKey EEG Stress Assessment System" is currently employed in the psychiatric and psychosomatic departments of several major hospitals in Taiwan, with plans to expand its application. To promote clinical usage among physicians and the adoption of new medical devices in mental health, the "Eight-Channel EEG Device" received FDA 510(k) clearance in the U.S. in 2020 and Taiwan TFDA Class II medical device approval in 2021. The "Cognitive Decline Risk Assessment System" is used for dementia risk assessment and has obtained FDA Class II medical device registration, with TFDA registration underway. Macrocare's technology extends the development of various EEG-assisted diagnostic applications, offering intelligent medical services through hardware and software integration to improve brain and mental health.
The "YouKey EEG Stress Assessment System" was granted AI software medical device approval by Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) in 2023. Utilizing AI algorithms, it analyzes 90-second EEG data to generate the quantitative "SEA Index," providing an objective physiological reference in addition to patient self-assessment. This aids physicians and professionals in more effectively communicating with patients, enhancing awareness and treatment compliance. The system is already in use in psychiatric and psychosomatic departments of major hospitals in Taiwan, with plans for broader application.
To facilitate clinical usage and promote the new medical device in mental health, Macrocare, in collaboration with the Taiwan Society of Psychophysiology, hosted a seminar. Esteemed psychiatrists and experts discussed depression and dementia-related topics and shared their clinical experiences with the "YouKey EEG Stress Assessment System."
