Qisda's AI subsidiary DSI acquires ownership of Owlconsulting; Acer Founder Stan Shih becomes new DSI shareholderMay 20, 2024

On the 17th, Qisda announced that its AI subsidiary, Data Systems Integration (DSI), will acquire ownership of Owlconsulting Market Insight Consultancy through a stock swap. Owlconsulting, invested by Acer founder and director of the StanS Foundation Stan Shih, specializes in qualitative insights, while DSI excels in quantitative data research. This partnership aims to drive AI transformation by merging Owlconsulting’s qualitative methods with DSI’s big data capabilities, helping businesses innovate based on demand-driven insights.

Stan Shih emphasized that understanding customer needs is a critical core competence for businesses to create added value and competitive differentiation. Owlconsulting employs qualitative research methods, such as interviews and observations, to uncover consumer needs that are not easily captured through standard surveys. Over the past five years, Owlconsulting has served dozens of corporate clients, bridging the gap between businesses and consumers.

Shih noted that as business issues become increasingly complex, diverse research methods are needed to address them. This integration aims to combine Owlconsulting's deep insight capabilities with DSI's big data strengths to provide comprehensive, high-quality consulting services. This aligns with the "smiling curve" concept of leveraging consumer insights to drive innovation, ultimately developing new core competencies for Taiwan’s future.

DSI Chairman and General Manager, Ya-Hui Yang, stated that in-depth market demand trend research drives innovation on one hand, while big data and AI enable it on the other. Following the acquisition of Owlconsulting, DSI plans to enhance its capabilities with more diverse consumer psychology and anthropological methods, complementing its existing strengths in big data and AI technology to help businesses achieve valuable and practical innovation.

DSI is Taiwan's only AI data consulting company with a nationwide survey network, integrating both big and small data. The company builds AI algorithms for clients, offering end-to-end data solutions from data collection to the establishment of data application platforms.

Beyond serving as the AI technology support within the Qisda Group, DSI's clientele includes Global 500 companies across various industries such as finance, fast-moving consumer goods, automotive brands, and utility services. DSI assists these clients in digital transformation and innovation through data and AI technology, with long-term partners including Taiwan Power Company, Swire Coca-Cola, and SUM under HSBC Auto.

Owlconsulting's team originated in 2012 from the Dragon R&D Forum Center for Chinese Markets, established by the StanS Foundation to help Taiwanese businesses understand consumer needs and strategize for innovation. In 2019, Stan Shih, under the name of Hung Jung Investment, along with other professional shareholders, co-invested and provided professional support to establish Owlconsulting.
