Quanta is seizing the opportunities in AI healthcare. Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Ted Chang, stated that the introduction of AI into the medical field will have a significant impact on humanity. However, achieving AI healthcare requires not only efficient cloud computing but also the integration of data from embedded terminal devices, such as wearable devices and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
He emphasized that Quanta's AI healthcare strategy is based on the concept of "Data Centric," creating a comprehensive platform that connects cloud and terminal devices.
Speaking at the "Embedded Design Forum to Meet the Singularity of AI Applications," Ted Chang pointed out that the urgent need for AI introduction in the medical industry is due to various critical challenges, such as aging populations, the inability to prevent pandemic diseases like COVID-19, and rising care costs, which are pushing medical resources closer to their limits.
From the perspective of healthcare, people are the source of data. It is necessary to develop different wearable devices, IoT devices, etc., to extract data from individuals and upload it to the cloud for big data analysis to achieve AI applications. Each station must use different communication technologies to form a Data Loop. Quanta will take the concept of data centers as a starting point to observe the entire Data Journey and shape relevant applications of AI healthcare.
Ted Chang explained that starting from terminal devices and combining with communication technologies like 5G, the collected data is sent to the cloud for big data analysis, AI application generation, and then introduced back to the edge. Taking Quanta's QOCA as an example, it is not just a product primarily based on cloud computing but rather a system platform that connects AI and IoT, collaborating with third-party partners such as hospitals to realize AI healthcare and remote care. AI is a catalyst that, once introduced into the medical field, will bring about enormous changes to the industry and will have a significant impact on human life cycles and health maintenance in the future.
Quanta recently announced its combined revenue for February, which reached NT$84.293 billion, an increase of 15.6% month-on-month and 1.1% year-on-year, showing growth in both month-on-month and year-on-year terms and unaffected by the Lunar New Year in February. The combined revenue for the first two months was NT$157.23 billion, a decrease of 9.3% year-on-year. Quanta stated that while laptop shipments remained the same as January in February, the higher unit price of shipped laptops contributed to the revenue momentum in February.
