President Tsai Ing-wen attended the "2024 Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (I.B.M.I.) Annual Conference" on 4th March, stating that, through collective efforts, Taiwan's biomedical industry chain has gradually taken shape and successfully expanded international biomedical opportunities. She expressed her anticipation that the Taipei Bioinnovation Park, a national-level research institution and industrial cluster, can facilitate more interdisciplinary collaboration through the I.B.M.I. This collaboration aims to assist both the government and the private sector in consolidating industry resources and promoting industrial advancement.
The relocation of the I.B.M.I. to the Taipei Bioinnovation Park was accompanied by President Ing-wen Tsai in the morning, along with Presidential Advisor Rong-jin Shen, Deputy Secretary-General Dun-han Chang, National Development Council Chairman Ming-hsin Gong, Taoyuan City Mayor San-cheng Chang, founder Jin-pyng Wang, Chairman Chi-huey Wong, Vice Chairmen Barry Lam, Pan-chyr Yang, Chang-hai Tsai, and Convener of supervisory committee Wei-chao Chen, among others, attending the annual Conference."
President Ing-wen Tsai mentioned that the annual Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry Annual Conference is a moment for the medical, technological, and various sectors to converge and exchange ideas. Recollecting 2016, her first stop on the industrial tour after being elected was at the I.B.M.I. At that time, many industry professionals provided valuable advice, shaping the direction of policy initiatives. Over the past eight years, the I.B.M.I. has not only proposed crucial industrial development strategies but also organized international-level medical technology exhibitions, promoting the globalization of Taiwan's biomedical industry.
She emphasized that the I.B.M.I. has always been a vital partner in the government's promotion of the biomedicine and healthcare industry. With collective efforts, Taiwan's biomedical industry chain has gradually taken shape. Building on the foundation of National Health Insurance and Biobank, we have developed big data of healthcare, leveraging the advantages of the information and communication technology industry to promote precision health and successfully expand international biomedical opportunities.
President Ing-wen Tsai expressed gratitude to the I.B.M.I. for actively connecting technology, medical, and biotechnology industries. The I.B.M.I. has continuously promoted and established a cooperative platform for medical digital transformation, linking important partners in the global medical supply chain, making Taiwan become a crucial hub for international biomedical innovation.
