Jonney Shih:Co-Creating a New Era of Smart MedicineMar 05, 2024

ASUS is actively involved in the realm of smart medicine, as Chairman Jonney Shih articulated that the advancement of big data and generative AI is reshaping the future of medical landscapes. Moving forward, Lean Thinking and Agile Methodology will optimize hospitals' digital transformations. An integrated smart medicine CPS (Cyber-Physical Systems) integration system, incorporating core capabilities such as computation, communication, and remote control, will propel medical services into a new era.

Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (I.B.M.I.) on the March 4th, Jonney Shih emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between Taiwan's technology and medical industries to pioneer the trend of smart medicine, launching more precise and agile next-generation medical care systems.

He highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, technology has played a crucial role in addressing challenges in life sciences and healthcare, accelerating the overall digital transformation of the healthcare industry. This encompasses providing personalized precision medicine and virtual healthcare, as well as fortifying the operational resilience of healthcare institutions.

Jonney Shih shared ASUS's accomplishments in the xHIS next-generation smart medicine information platform, CPS system, and the integration of smart robot Zenbo Junior and AI into remote healthcare systems, showcasing Asus's active role in shaping Healthcare 4.0.

With hundreds of individuals dedicated to developing the xHIS platform for over three years, ASUS aims to foster the mutual advancement of Taiwan's medical information, smart medical devices, and precision medicine through the establishment of an open data convergence and AI-native platform. Jonney Shih asserted that just as the Android open platform has spurred innovative advancements in smartphones, the ASUS xHIS platform will serve as the linchpin for the future CPS integration system for smart medicine.

Jonney Shih underscored that the ASUS xHIS platform can already decipher consultations containing mixed Mandarin and Taiwanese. Simultaneously, through international standard interfaces, smart healthcare in Taiwan can achieve interoperability on an international scale. He further highlighted ASUS's objective of integrating new technologies into smart medicine CPS and promoting next-generation medical care services, hastening the realization of precision health and virtual care under AI-driven digital twin technology, and reinforcing hospital resilience.

He also urged Taiwan's medical and technology industries to collaborate in spearheading this wave of smart medicine trends, and to partner with domestic and international industry stakeholders in establishing a smart medicine industry production field, facilitating broader access to more comprehensive, personalized, precise, agile, and efficient next-generation medical care.
