Adimmue's new plant for tetanus vaccine passes GMP inspectionMar 02, 2023

Adimmune Group announced on 1 March that the new tetanus vaccine plant has passed GMP inspection by Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), and will complete the extension of the drug approval as soon as possible.

The tetanus vaccine will be marketed by Adimmune's subsidiary Enimmune. Enimmune pointed out that the tetanus vaccine is expected to enter medical institutions in the second quarter of next year, and in addition to satisfying Taiwan's epidemic prevention needs as a priority, the vaccine manufactured by Adimmune has been sold internationally for many years with a good reputation. In the future, the company will market made-in-Taiwan tetanus vaccine and enterovirus vaccine in Southeast Asia and China, and continue to make the MIT vaccine famous internationally.

The company will supply one million doses of tetanus vaccine from next year onwards to meet its goal of manufacturing the vaccine in Taiwan and becoming self-sufficient, solving the problem of drug shortages caused by the unstable supply of tetanus vaccine, which relies on imports, and doing its part to prevent epidemics in Taiwan.

In order to provide products that comply with PIC/S GMP regulations, Adimmune's Board of Directors resolved in 2020 to spend NT$300 million to build a brand new tetanus vaccine plant, which was recently certified by TFDA as a GMP plant. This is not only the only tetanus vaccine plant in Taiwan, but also one of the few independent production lines for tetanus vaccine in the world, in order to ensure the supply of tetanus vaccine for emergency care.

The tetanus vaccine is the most effective way to prevent tetanus infection from causing severe neurological conditions such as muscle stiffness and convulsions, especially in patients who have suffered trauma, car accidents or are pregnant. After the new tetanus vaccine factory has obtained GMP, Adimmune will actively complete the subsequent extension of the drug approval, and will be able to provide a stable supply of tetanus vaccine for the country's needs when production resumes next year.
