Da Vinci surgical system is the world's most advanced robotic-assisted, minimally invasive surgical robot. Since 2008, Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH) has been committed to the development and application of robotic-assisted surgical technologies, and has now exceeded 5,000 cases. The hospital has recently been granted the teaching and demonstration site for urology, colorectal surgery and ENT surgery, it established its Da Vinci surgical center on 17 February in the hope of benefiting more patients in need of robotic-assisted procedures.
The minimally invasive surgery system features 3D ultra-high resolution visual images, surgical instruments designed to mimic human wrist joints, and a precise and intuitive control system that allows surgeons to perform more complex and precise surgeries, which not only reduces the risk of surgery, but also shortens the recovery period and allows patients to return to normal life quickly after surgery, said Dr. Shih-ann Chen, Superintendent of Taichung Veterans General Hospital.
