The groundbreaking ceremony for a CDMO facility in the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park was held on 11 November by Locus Cell, and the facility will be the largest cell therapy factory in Asia, providing contract development and manufacturing services related to CAR-T and cell therapy.
Led by the former President of NTU Hospital, Hong-Nerng Ho, and the former CEO of Minaris, KKazuchika Furuishi, the world's number one market share in cell therapy CDMO, Locus Cell is building a PIC/S GMP-compliant cell factory in Hsinchu, focusing on CDMO services for cellular products.
In addition, Locus recruited Dr. Yu-Hsiang Chang as its Chief Medical Officer last year and spent three years inventing a new CAR and applying for a CAR-T patent. This has made CAR-T therapy a breakthrough treatment.
The company is dedicated to the contract manufacturing of domestic and foreign cellular industry players, and has entered the global regenerative medicine supply chain with an international vision of Taiwan-Japan cooperation, creating local employment opportunities and creating prosperity with the Taiwanese biotechnology industry.
The company has established a pilot plant in Hsichih and is certified by TFDA and various clinical trials and cell therapy certifications to provide contract development and manufacturing services for cell therapy-related products.
In addition, the PIC/S GMP facility in Hsinchuhas been approved to meet international standards and is expected to open in 2025, making it the largest cell manufaturing facility in Taiwan.
