Chang Bing Show Chwan Hospital and Show Chwan Memorial Hospital have recently be recognised by the TÜV-SQS Healthcare, becoming the first hospital in Taiwan with the acknowledgement, which means a major step towards its objective of being medical centers.
The TUV-SQS is a world-renowned global certification body that is used by many international brands as an indicator of their quality of service. It covers 32 fields, including automotive sales and after-sales services, healthcare, retail, tourism and other service industries.
TÜV launched the TÜV-SQS Healthcare in 2019 to provide all healthcare organisations with a set of service quality standards that focus on people's healthcare experience and promote the quality of healthcare services, said Soo-chu Chen, Chief Operating Officer of Show Chwan Healthcare System. Due to the epidemic, the assessment process has been delayed, but the hospital is continuing to improve the hardware and facilities, strengthen management, improve service processes and increase user-friendly facilities, Chen added.
The second stage of the on-site medical service quality audit was conducted in early January. Chen pointed out that the assessors examined the hospital's service processes from the patient's perspective, including consultation appointments, registration and pricing, outpatient emergency services, tests and examinations, pharmacy services, ward services and other medical processes. On-site audits included corporate governance and management, clinical visits, operation of hospital quality and safety management committees, and follow-up management of adverse events and medical incidents.
In order to improve the quality of management and services, to put the patient at the centre, to realise the vision of "becoming the Mayo Medical Centre of Asia", and to establish a system of "good hospitals in the countryside" so that even remote areas can enjoy the courtesy of cosmopolitan medical quality, Show Chwan Healthcare System has introduced the TÜV Rheinland SQS-Healthcare standard to provide more perfect medical treatment and services, said Min-ho Huang, President of Show Chwan Healthcare System.
Jing-yuan Huang, CEO of Show Chwan, also pointed out that the medical service quality certification will start with the Changhua and Chang Bing branches, and that all staff will work together to ensure that the daily management of medical service quality will be carried out in an orderly manner and continuously improved, so as to provide a more professional and high-quality medical experience for former patients and their families.
