Spirulina is a kind of multicellular algae. Under the microscope, it appears a spiral shape; therefore it is named after its shape. Spirulina usually grows in alkaline water or salt water. It is rich in nutrition, such as phycocyanin、quality plant protein、γ-linolenic acid、essential amino acids、vitamins、minerals、chlorophyll and carotene. Spirulina contains a significant amount of γ-linolenic acid and phycocyanin that are rare in plants.
